HAMMER's Construction Worker Safety Training Program (CWSTP) mission is to bring the level of construction worker safety training to a higher standard, and instill a “safety-first” with maximum reciprocity in order to reduce cost and redundant training. This program was created as a joint venture between DOE, HAMMER, Central Washington Building Trades and Contractors to address the specific needs of the Building Trades Workers at Hanford. Through a grant process HAMMER also provides opportunities for displaced construction workers to attend HAZWOPER training classes.

Since 2009, documented training direct dollar cost savings of almost $5 million have been recorded. This is the result of standardization of Training and established agreements to allow equivalencies. In addition, HAMMER also provides Building Trades’ pre-job meeting support to aid subcontractor’s identify and address training issues that minimize work delays and improve worker safety.

HAMMER Hanford Training classes are available to DOE and DOE-affiliated entities including Hanford contractors and their subcontractors.
