The HAMMER Respiratory Program helps prepare the Hanford Site workforce to work safely in hazardous atmospheric and industrial environments. To ensure the best respiratory protection for every worker, HAMMER offers training on 34 different pieces of respiratory protection equipment (RPE) with over 100 combinations. Each respiratory user receives training that meets DOE, OSHA and ANSI requirements as well as hands on experience for those units that they will use in the workplace. Training includes selection, inspection, assembly, use and participation in realistic hands-on training scenarios that mimic situations encountered in the field.
